Mindfulness is a powerful set of skills, combining ancient wisdom and 21st century science, to help anyone achieve more out of life. It’s particularly helpful if you suffer with stress, worry, anxiety, chronic pain, addiction recovery, depression and a wide range of long term physical or mental health issues. The word Mindfulness means compassionate and lucid awareness, a sense of knowing what is happening in the external and internal world in the now as it is happening.

Most of us are more used to its opposite: Mindlessness – times when we are not fully conscious of what is going on within us, when we find ourselves repeating unhelpful thoughts or behaviours without noticing, such as eating that whole packet of biscuits before realising when our original intention was only to eat one or two.

Benefits of Mindfulness

When you practice mindfulness, the benefits you gain include more:

  • Inner calm; increased ease of being
  • More Joy in life
  • Clarity of thought; can see more clearly
  • Increased connection with your true self
  • Increased peace of mind
  • Freedom from worry and negative thinking
  • More energy, vitality and positivity
  • Better sleep
  • Freedom from old negative emotional patterns or habits.
  • More compassionate to yourself and to others.
  • Increased ability to ‘go with the flow’ of life

Traditional Ways to Learn Mindfulness

Generally, many clients will learn mindfulness as it is offered in a group setting via a version of the formal 8 weeks Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in the USA.

Following on from that Mindfulness is traditionally cultivated by the daily practice of meditation. Daily meditation practice allows people to see the way in which certain patterns of mind lead to escalation of emotions, so that they can make better choices of how to respond.

Mindfulness Learnt Easily through Hypnosis

I don't teach the formal 8 week group Mindfulness courses. I prefer a unique bespoke personalised one-to-one method of teaching Mindfulness under Hypnosis where your new skills can be more rapidly accessed and integrated into your mind and life. Remember standardised approaches are designed for populations; they are not designed uniquely for you. By working on an individual basis, not only can I help you develop a practice that works with your particular needs, nature and personality, I can help you remove any potential obstacles to your practice ahead of time by recruiting the power of your unconscious mind and inner resources. It’s the difference between a bespoke tailored Saville Row suit and an ‘off the peg’ garment.

The Benefits of Using Hypnosis to Learn Mindfulness.

Hypnosis makes learning any new skill easier by recruiting your inner resources into the process. Using hypnosis as a tool to help clients develop mindfulness skills has the following advantages:

  • Sessions are One-to-One and Personalised to you making your needs the priority.

  • Heighten state of inner awareness is present allowing mindfulness practices and gentle positive change to be developed more easily, rapidly and more comfortably.

  • Greater depths of physical, mental and emotional relaxation can be reached using hypnosis allowing for new learning of Mindfulness is integrated more deeply into your nervous system.

  • Increased internal focus means distractions to learning a mindfulness practice are less troublesome.

  • Use of hypnosis allows potential obstacles (e.g. poor motivation, not feeling worth it) to your mindfulness practice to be resolved ahead of time

  • Your newly developed Mindfulness practice can be enhanced and reinforced using a variety of methods e.g. post hypnotic suggestion, future focused techniques, guided imagery and motivational hypnotherapy
