What do we mean when we talk about self-esteem and self-confidence? Although we use these words interchangeably, they are differences:
Self-esteem is an internal opinion of who and how we are. It’s our judgement of how we feel about ourselves. When our self-esteem is low, we have an overly negative (and distorted) view of how we are. We fail to see our self in our true light. It’s no wonder then that we fail to achieve what we are potentially capable of.
Self-confidence has to do with how we feel about our abilities, and so can fluctuate depending on the situation. For example, a person may be confident when doing their job, but unconfident when it comes to meeting new people or driving a car A person lacking in self-confidence may doubt their ability to perform well in certain situations e.g. public speaking.

Confidence and self-esteem have their roots in the unconscious mind and how it has been programmed by our past experiences, life history and early conditioning. Neither low self-confidence nor low self-esteem are things you are born with.
Because of this, we need to turn to the unconscious to find the solutions. Hypnotherapy is an excellent way of working with the unconscious to re-access past experiences that caused us to doubt our abilities and our self. Using hypnotherapy, we can alter our beliefs, re-write those old stories we’ve been telling ourselves of “not being good enough” and repair our self-image.
When we like our selves and understand our true self-worth, our self-esteem increases and our confidence automatically builds. We feel more secure and independent, knowing that we can cope with whatever life brings. With high self-esteem comes the confidence to take risks and live life authentically, staying true to our own values
