Overcome Anxiety and Panic Attacks with Hypnotherapy
Freedom from Anxiety with Hypnotherapy Chester and Online Hypnosis
What if ....you didn't have to just 'try to manage' your anxiety and panic attacks with tools and techniques, but there was actually a way to heal it, so you could truly be free...
What if....there was an effective alternative to taking the anti-depressants that you are relectantly taking or considering taking, that brings real, lasting results safely, so you can avoid unpleasant medication side effects
What if.....there was a way to do that in as little as 8 weeks, without having to spend months and years in weekly counselling or talking therapy going over the same old stuff, and not really feeling much better
The truth is that YOU DON'T and THERE IS....
The idea that anxiety is a problem that you will just have to 'put up with' and 'get on with' is simply not true. It's an old outdated myth that simply isn't in line with cutting-edge brain science, or whats actually possible for the individual.
It's also true that, for the majority of individuals, anti-depressant medications simply don't work, at best they are a 'sticking plaster', and there is an epidemic of debilitating side effects and withdrawal effects from anti-depressants going under the radar within the community.
There is A REAL SOLUTION, if you are ready to take action...

Life is full of potentially stressful events and it is normal to feel anxious at times. It’s a natural part of life that we may cope with reasonably well at times. In fact, a certain amount of anxiety can even be necessary now and then, to make sure we do our best and reach our peak performance.
When anxiety increases in intensity and frequency, becomes overwhelming or chronic, then it becomes deeply distressing, frightening and even disabling to a person. There can be a single trigger or event that raises our anxiety, but usually its an accumulation of pressures or worries eg work pressures, relationship difficulties, how we think we look, finances etc.
Anxiety can have a devastating impact on our self-esteem, confidence, relationships, work, hobbies, prospects, sleep and physical health. Anxiety can, at times, precipitate or be associated with depression, or addictions (eg alcohol, drugs etc), as people try to find ways of coping with the anxious symptoms.
Signs and Symptoms of Anxiety
Anxiety has a strong effect on us because it’s a natural survival mechanism in our body. It causes our mind and our body to speed up, as if preparing for an emergency situation, even if only suspects a threat
Some physical things that can happen include:
- Rapid heartbeat /palpitations
- Fast breathing
- Dry mouth
- Tension or weak muscles
- Churning or 'butterflies in the' stomach
- Loose bowels
- Urgent need to urinate
Anxiety has a psychological impact on us to, which can include:
- Lack of concentration and focus
- Feeling ‘unreal’ or like ‘being in a film’
- Feeling irritable
- Feeling depressed
- Trouble sleeping
- Loss of self-confidence
- Worrying negative thoughts
Anxiety can lead to unhelpful behaviours which can include:
- Withdrawal from people and situations that are good for us
- Using alcohol, drugs or other behavious or distractions to try to cope with the anxious feelings
- Avoidance of feared situations and circumstances
Symptoms of Panic Attacks
A panic attack may happen suddenly with little or no warning, causing a fear that is out of all proportion to the actual situation. The person may know that it is irrational to feel this way, but feels powerless to stop it. It just seems to overcome them.
Panic attack symptoms include the following:
- Pounding of the heart; palpitations
- Sweating or chills
- Shortness of breath
- Shaking or tremors
- Dizzy, light-headed or faint
- Feelings of loss of control
- Churning stomach
- Feeling of being about to die or impending dread
In some ways, panic attack symptoms may be similar to anxiety symptoms, but are much more severe and terrifying. For many people, panic attacks have a traumatic quality after the event that can be difficult to come to terms with, especially initially, as a person attempts to carry on with life.
Types of Anxiety Disorders
- Panic Attacks
- Generalised Anxiety Disorder
- Health Anxiety
- Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
- Psychogenic Nausea
- Social Anxiety
What Causes Anxiety?
Feelings of anxiety can be caused by lots of factors and vary depending on what you are worried about and how you act when you are afraid.
Some things that cause anxiety are:
- Whats happened to you in your life (including when you were in the womb!)
- How you were brought up
- Your genes
- Life events, challanges and traumas
- The way you learn and cope with things
- Role models around you in childhood
- How you handle feelings and emotions
- The environment you live in
- Stresses you are exposed to in every day life
- Not feeling good enough
- The thoughts and pictures in your mind
- The words that you say to yourself
- The foods and drinks you eat
- Toxins and chemicals you are exposed to
- And other things too
Very often in anxiety, what we are actually afraid of is the fear itself : the fear of fear, or the fear of losing control, of being overwhelmed by difficult feelings, circumstances or by life itself.
Conventional Treatments for Anxiety: What your Doctor might do?
If you go to your own doctor with anxiety, you might find that you prescribed tranquilisers (eg Diazepam (Valium), beta-blockers, antidepressants and other anti-anxiety medication.
Often, these medications deal with the symptoms of the anxiety, but do nothing to address the underlying or precipitating cause of the anxiety.
Your doctor may refer you for counselling or a course of CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) on the NHS. Its important to be aware that NHS CBT is a standard protocol approach (everyone gets the same).
Both can be useful in the treatment of mild anxiety, but still I regularly see many clients who have found them unsuccessful in reducing their symtoms or in getting to the root causes of their anxiety. I offer a much more flexible, bespoke treatment service that is adapted to your individual needs.
Why its important to listen to the symptoms of Anxiety?
Anxiety symptoms and symptoms of panic attacks always exist for a reason. They are the unconscious mind's way of alerting us that something inside that is out of balance.
Those anxious, panicky feelings are ofetn the non specific surface symptom of a deeper issue that needs to be discovered and understood, so that it can be resolved properly. Once the underlying cause of anxiety is dealt with, the symptoms fade away, as our body and mind no longer need to alert us that something nneds tending to.
By using hypnotherapy and hypno-psychotherapy in the treatment of anxiety and panic attacks, we can go directly to the cause of the problem and address what needs to be addressed. Very often, there is some unprocessed and unresolved emotional issues that have been driving the difficulty that need to be processed and resolved.
